Fast, fair and done properly
A Queensland safety certificate tells a buyer the vehicle met the minimum safety standard on the day it was inspected. As an approved inspection station, we check every item on the official list — carefully, and without upselling you repairs you don't need.
If something does need attention, you'll get a clear written list and an honest quote. You're free to have the work done anywhere, and if you bring it back within 14 days we only re-check those items.

Every inspection follows the Queensland Code of Practice for light vehicle inspections. Key areas include:
- Brakes, including pedal feel and handbrake
- Steering and suspension components
- Tyres, wheels and tread depth
- Headlights, indicators and all lights
- Seats, seatbelts and restraints
- Windscreen, wipers, washers and mirrors
- Body, chassis and rust in structural areas
- Exhaust, oil leaks and excessive smoke
- Horn, speedometer and warning lights
- Vehicle identification (VIN) and number plates

FAQ
Common questions
Is a roadworthy the same as a safety certificate?
Yes. In Queensland the official name is a safety certificate, but most people still call it a roadworthy or RWC. It's the same inspection and the same certificate.
When do I need a safety certificate in Queensland?
You need one when you sell a registered light vehicle (it must be displayed on the vehicle while it's advertised for sale), when you re-register a vehicle that has been unregistered, and in some other cases such as transferring certain interstate vehicles. If you're not sure, call us and we'll help you work it out.
How long is a safety certificate valid?
For a private seller, a safety certificate is valid for 2 months or 2,000 km, whichever comes first. For licensed motor dealers it's 3 months or 1,000 km.
What happens if my vehicle doesn't pass?
We give you a written list of the items that need attention and can quote to fix them. If the vehicle comes back to us within 14 days, we only re-check the items on that list rather than doing a full inspection again.
Which vehicles do you inspect?
Passenger cars, 4WDs, utes and vans (light vehicles). We don't currently inspect trailers, caravans, motorbikes or heavy vehicles.
How long does the inspection take?
Most light vehicles take around 45 minutes to an hour. Book a time online and you'll know exactly when to arrive.
